Aloo Matar

Aloo Matar Sabzi is a classic Indian dish that combines potatoes and green peas in a flavorful gravy, perfect to accompany rice or roti. Here's how you can prepare it:

Ingredients:

  • 3 medium-sized potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1 cup green peas (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 2 green chilies, slit
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Recipe:

  • Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Let them splutter.
  • Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  • Add ginger-garlic paste and slit green chilies. Sauté for 2 minutes.
  • Add chopped tomatoes and cook until soft and mushy.
  • Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, and salt. Mix well.
  • Add cubed potatoes and green peas. Mix until well coated with the masala.
  • Add water as needed to cover the potatoes and peas.
  • Cover and cook until the potatoes are tender and the gravy thickens.
