Aloo Matar
Aloo Matar Sabzi is a classic Indian dish that combines potatoes and green peas in a flavorful gravy, perfect to accompany rice or roti. Here's how you can prepare it:
Ingredients:
- 3 medium-sized potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1 cup green peas (fresh or frozen)
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
- 2 green chilies, slit
- 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp garam masala powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp oil
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Recipe:
- Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Let them splutter.
- Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and slit green chilies. Sauté for 2 minutes.
- Add chopped tomatoes and cook until soft and mushy.
- Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, and salt. Mix well.
- Add cubed potatoes and green peas. Mix until well coated with the masala.
- Add water as needed to cover the potatoes and peas.
- Cover and cook until the potatoes are tender and the gravy thickens.
